Noritake Kookaburra Design

Noritake Kookaburra Design
This Kookaburra design was made by Noritake Japan and has the green Maruki mark for 1935. Items with this mark were made specifically for export to Australia and New Zealand according to the Noritake guild. Being early “Australiana” it is also very collectable here.
I think this sandwich set is just fantastic! Not to everyone’s taste I know, but I love the vibrant colours of all of this early 20th Century Noritake, the designs are so vibrant, and each piece so well painted.

I inherited a set from my grandmother and I love it but 1 saucer and 3 cups have broken over the years – I would love to replace them to make up the full set again. 1 have the teapot, milk jog, sugar bowl, sandwich plate, 6 plates, 5 saucers and 3 cups – could you help me replace them? Many thanks Denise.

It will probably take time to find pieces to replace this pattern as it is now quite rare, but regular eBay and etsy searches, online searches and public auction houses are the places to look. I have had most luck over the years at public auctions finding this pattern – but it can take years sometimes. You can set up automatic searches on ebay to notify you when a piece comes up for sale or auction. Even try places like Instagram which are also a good source to find items.
