Danish Mid Century Stoneware wall plaques are a fascinating genre of ceramics as wall art, and in Denmark from the post WWII period until the late 1970s most major potteries and many potters produced them in all shapes, sizes and styles.

    Wow, these are all amazing but that last Noomi Backhausen one is so good with the unglazed clay and the geometric shapes.

    But it’s hard to respond to them as art/craft- they “take me back” so strongly to my childhood in the 70’s. More so than functional ceramics.

      Hi Catarina, I agree the ones by Noomi are always so impressive…and so diverse in design…..and she produced 100s of designs from what I can gather …some huge pieces weight 3-4kg ……Im continually seeing new ones she designed.. Strangely I never saw anything like these in the 1970s – it was all macrame and fabric wall hangings 🙂
