Arabia Finland “Telma”
How beautiful is this delicate design from Arabia Finland, on a very organic shaped and attractive porcelain vase.
This design is from the 1960s and appears to be very rare. I have only been able to find 2 examples of it anywhere – and both on the instagram feed of Miikka Jaala from Finland on his Instagram ( @ vintageunelmia )
The design called “Telma” is by Esteri Tomula in the 1960s. It features beautiful and delicate grasses and leaves in black, grey and gold with incredibly fine detail. The design in this example is only on the front of the vase.
On his instagram feed Mikka has a cup and saucer and plate in this design… but I can find no other examples of it anywhere to share on here – so I would love if any readers have an example of this design.
The two other examples of this design I have seen both have slight theme variations – but all have the same style and type of leaf/grasses, with an area of the background in a pale colour block which grounds and accentuates the design.
